South Africa Rhodes Letters for Scholarships


Letters for Scholarships Applications are invited from outstanding young students who excel academically, demonstrate leadership, are committed to making a difference in the world, and have the energy to fulfil their ambitions. The Trust covers all costs, including University and College fees, and travel to and from Oxford. A comfortable living allowance is also provided. Candidates must be at least 19 and younger than 25 years as at 1 October 2012. The Letters for Scholarships age limit has been extended by three years for MBChB
applicants who are doing their medical internships. Four scholarships are available for South African residents in general; one for KwaZulu-Natal; and one each for the alumni of Diocesan College, Paul Roos Gymnasium, St Andrew’s College, and South African College School. There is a further Letters for Scholarships available for residents of Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia and Swaziland..

Knight International Journalism Fellowships Letters for Scholarships


Letters for Scholarships The Knight International Journalism Fellowship Program is a sustainable, effective change, improving quality and free messages in the public interest in the world. Funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, which sends the whole year through international media professionals in countries where there are ways to ensure the reliability, insightful journalism that officials accountable. Letters for Scholarships Knight International Fellows work holds in these important regions promote: Asia / Pacific, Eurasia / Former Soviet Union, Latin America, Middle East / North Africa and Africa south of Sahara.

Leadership qualities
Proficiency in the language of the host country
Demonstrate knowledge of the project direction and experience in rural project / Media
Journalism experience at least 10 years
Training experience is a plus
Scholarship is open to all nationalities
The duration of the scholarship is at least one year, unless otherwise stated


An Letters for Scholarships orientation program for new Knight International Journalism Fellows providing information about the Fellowships and training in digital media, mentoring techniques and monitoring and evaluation methods takes place twice annually.

Schwallie Family Letters for Scholarship Program


The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) holds an annual Schwallie Family Letters for Scholarship Competition to support qualified individuals with autism or Asperger Syndrome residing in the United States pursuing post-secondary education. OAR will present awards of $3,000 each across three categories: 1) Four-year undergraduate college or university; 2) Two-year undergraduate college, and; 3) Trade, technical or vocational school. These Letters for Scholarship will be one-time awards for any recipient.

Eligibility Details:

Any individual with an established autism or Asperger Syndrome diagnosis and who will be attending an accredited institution of higher education in the United States for the Fall 2011/Spring 2012 semesters is eligible to apply. Eligible Letters for Scholarship individuals need to be enrolled on at least a part-time basis (6 credits) or be working toward certification or accreditation in a particular field (e.g., studying to be a paralegal). Past recipients of a Schwallie Family Scholarship or immediate family members of any person serving on OAR’s Board of Directors or Scientific Council are not eligible to apply.

PhD Scholarships Studentship within the ATLAS Experiment

Scholarship Description:The Uppsala ATLAS group is part of the High Energy Physics group at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, and currently consists of three faculty members, one post-doctor and three graduate students. We are looking for an excellent and highly motivated PhD student with keen interest in experimental physics and competence within data analysis programs (e.g. C++ and ROOT). The PhD student will work on physics analysis of data from ATLAS and take part in the development of tools for distributed analysis on the grid needed for this purpose.

The PhD position is funded for four years, extendible to a maximum of five years including department duties at a level of at most 20% (typically teaching).
